Hi there! I’m Desiré, the plush artist and imagination wrangler behind Necessarily Nerdy, where charming plush toys and fandom-inspired creations come to life!
I’ve been sewing for more than 20 years but only started making plushies in 2010 when a simple sewing project of a plush game controller for my toddler child quickly blossomed into a full-fledged adventure.
As my children grew my creations evolved as well and I’ve gone from tiny baby toys all into fandom inspired plushies to keep entertaining them and others I sew for.
Each creation from cuddly plush companions and cat toys to vinyl bookmarks, and reusable coloring pals is designed to spark creativity and bring a touch of whimsy to everyday life.
I started Necessarily Nerdy in 2017 when we moved to a new city and I befriended a wonderful graphic artist that collaborated with me. In 2024 I officially became an Indiana Small Business! Currently I sell at in person pop up events and conventions as well as online. My favorite compliment ever? A child once wandered into my bright teal booth, wide-eyed, and declared:
“It is wonderful here.”
I’m endlessly inspired by colorful fabrics, playful designs, and the joy of transforming fandom favorites into something soft, huggable, and joy-filled.
That’s exactly the feeling I hope to share through every plush and product a little world of wonder, stitched with care, where everyone is welcome to be Necessarily Nerdy.
